The DH & RSE Summer School is an annual event combining talks and practical activities which explore how the intersection of digital humanities and software engineering. It is a rare opportunity for participants to gain an insight into the roles and practices of Research Software Engineering in Digital Humanities research and what a career in DH RSE, or related areas, might look like.

Who we are

The Summer School is organised and run a by a group of UK Higher Education organisations. All of our institutions have strong links to digital humanities (DH). Research software engineering is a growing part of DH and our purpose is to increase awareness and understanding of this field.

The History of the Summer School

In 2023 the event became hybrid. We had two days of online sessions and talks, followed by two in-person days at the University of Cambridge.

Our most recent Summer School took place at King's College London, with King's Digital Lab being the lead organiser. As well as contributions from the University of Edinburgh and the University of Cambridge, this year we also had the support and involvement of the DISKAH Project.
